Greener Homes Grant Rebate List

Why We Suggest Triple Pane Windows

The Greener Homes Grant reflects the window and patio door performance ratings supplied by Energy Star. While we do not agree fully with the options needed to provide you with a window that qualifies for thearebates, I have outlined why we suggest going triple pane over the dual pane option.

Dual Pane Windows

Dual pane windows that qualify are casement, awnings, fixed, single hung and single slider windows.

The ⅞” thick glass pack must include LoE180 with an additional coating of i89.

There are certain cases where LoE 180 is useful in Canada. For example, if you live in rural Ontario in a field where you would like to have the winter sun control the heat in the house.

But for most of our clients, this is not the case. We live in subdivisions where there are other houses and trees that obstruct the few hours the sun is up in the winter.

The i89 coating is a great coating and if we were able to pair the coating with LoE366 glass to have a window that will qualify for the rebate, i would suggest going this way, but this is not the case.

The rebate for Dual pane is $175 per window opening.

Triple Pane Windows

Triple Pane windows that qualify are casement, awnings and fixed windows.

The 1 ⅜” Glass pack must include 2 layers of LoE180 & 2 chambers of Argon Gas or 1 Layer of LoE366 and 1 layer of LoE180 & 2 chambers of Argon Gas to qualify for the rebate

These glass options offer a superior window compared to dual pane windows. The added benefits are:

  • Reduces up to 98% of the UV Heat & Damaging Rays
  • Provides maximum distance between exterior elements and your interior with the glass being 1 ⅜”
  • Provides the maximum performance against interior condensation from having interior higher humidity, interior blinds/shutters
  • Up to 3 times the noise canceling effect than builders dual pane Windows
  • The Rebate for Triple pane is $325.00 per window Opening.

What We Suggest

In conclusion, choosing triple pane windows over dual pane windows is a decisive step towards maximizing the financial benefits of the Greener Homes Rebate in Canada. The superior energy efficiency, enhanced insulation, and reduced environmental impact of triple pane windows align seamlessly with the goals of this rebate program.
